Kyndryl has opened its first U.S. artificial intelligence innovation lab in Frisco. The lab, located at 5844 John Hickman Parkway, began operations on September 30. This new facility is expected to create more than 300 jobs in fields such as AI, technology consulting, and design engineering over the next four years.

The IT infrastructure services provider, Kyndryl, designs, builds, and manages complex technology systems for large enterprises. The company was established in 2021 after a spin-off of IBM’s managed infrastructure services business. Kyndryl’s U.S. President Jamie Rutledge stated that the lab will bring customers and Kyndryl experts together to maximize AI’s potential.

Rutledge added that the lab is powered by the Kyndryl Agentic AI Framework. It provides customers with a hands-on environment for experimentation and innovation. The goal is to accelerate the process of turning ideas into tangible outcomes with increased confidence.

“The future of AI will be built through collaboration, and our AI Innovation Lab in Dallas brings customers together with Kyndryl experts to unlock the full value of AI while strengthening America’s innovation ecosystem,” Kyndryl U.S. President Jamie Rutledge said.

Frisco Mayor Mark Hill highlighted Kyndryl’s decision to establish its innovation hub in Frisco. He noted that the company could have chosen any market in the United States. Hill emphasized that this choice underscores the strength of Frisco’s community and its reputation for growth, innovation, and talent.

“Kyndryl is a pioneering company that could have chosen any market in the United States, and its decision to establish a major innovation hub in Frisco underscores the strength of our community and the reputation we’ve earned as one of the best places in the country for growth, innovation and exceptional talent,” Frisco Mayor Mark Hill said.

The opening of the AI Innovation Lab marks a significant step for Kyndryl in fostering AI development and collaboration. The initiative is also set to contribute substantially to job creation within the Frisco area. This development aligns with broader trends in the sports technology sector, where organizations are increasingly leveraging advanced technologies. For instance, MACHINE Sports is targeting PGA retail buyers with modular putter technology at an upcoming summit, and LaLiga EA Sports is adopting connected ball technology for its 2026/27 season.

The lab’s establishment in Frisco signifies the city’s growing importance as a center for technological advancement. Kyndryl’s investment is expected to bolster the local economy and enhance Frisco’s standing in the innovation landscape. The company’s focus on AI aligns with the increasing integration of technology across various industries, including sports, as seen with FIFA’s technology push for the 2026 World Cup.
